Reviews of our Wedding Venue from Around the Web
We had a very small, intimate wedding on Feb 20 and it was absolutely beautiful! One of the prettiest places I have seen to get married. The house is beautiful, the outside is beautiful, and the staff is so willing to help with everything. If you are wanting a small wedding that you don’t have to do much work and have it be very beautiful, this is definitely the place! Debbie was fantastic in taking care of everything and just letting us relax. We are already planning another visit in the summer 🙂Amanda on TripAdvisor
My husband and I took a leap of faith and booked a December wedding at Christopher Place. I use the expression “leap of faith” because although we had enjoyed a brief one-night stay at the Inn, we didn’t know a lot about CP before we booked the entire Inn for a weekend wedding. I’m so glad we did it, because our wedding could not have been more perfect. We knew we wanted to rent a B&B or an Inn in the mountains that was accessible to our invitees. A couple of our guests flew into Knoxville, but most drove in from Georgia and Indiana. CP was the perfect size and style to accommodate everyone’s taste. We were thrilled to be able to host our family in the Inn’s luxurious and spacious rooms. I don’t think anyone used room keys the entire weekend. We felt like CP was our home because we had the entire Inn to ourselves for two days. The most popular season to visit Tennessee might be fall, but even in December we were able to enjoy a 50 degree cloudless day. We opted for an indoor ceremony, but most of our wedding pictures were taken outside with gorgeous mountain views. Marsten, Debbie, Rusty and Nina could not have been more accommodating. We had a few last minute changes, and I forgot we had a vegetarian among us. Marsten and Debbie were flexible and gracious. Everyone at CP bent over backwards to make sure we were happy. Chef Valentine prepared several amazing meals for us. We had a rehearsal-style dinner on Friday with pulled pork and southern sides. It was served very elegantly, and the setting was perfect for families on both sides to get to know one another more before the Saturday wedding. Saturday’s ceremony and reception went off without a hitch. Debbie was a tremendous help with coordinating our vendors, including the florist, a string trio, and photographer. The reception dinner was unforgettable. All of the steak entries were plated and served at once. That’s rare for a party of 20 or more. We had a champagne toast and open bar and no one’s glass went empty. Our families enjoyed getting to know more about the Inn and talking to Marsten and Debbie. We found CP mugs stashed in our car before we left on Sunday. Our parents wanted to make sure we had souvenirs from the Inn. I have so many great memories from our time at CP. The Inn is romantic, but it was so much more to us. It was both elegant and comfortable and a perfect setting for us to celebrate with our closest family and friends. Every one of our guests loved his/her experience.Kristin on TripAdvisor
Here’s an example of the cards we regularly receive from our Christopher Place couples!
When we started dating, one of the first trips my husband and I made was a getaway to Christopher Place. Over the years, we’ve visited a few more times. Each visit was better than the last! We always knew when it was time to get married, this was where we wanted to do it.
During our previous stays, we booked Mountain Sunrise. This room boasts one of the most incredible views of the Smoky Mountains we have ever seen. There is a balcony that extends off this room. There is nothing better than sitting in the rockers on the balcony, sipping hot chocolate and watching the sun come up and go down over the mountains.
Our most recent stay, we checked in to find we were given a complimentary upgrade to their banner suite, Roman Holiday. Throughout Christopher Place, there is fine artwork and decor; their rooms are not an exception. The bed was not only beautiful, but one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. There is a large jacuzzi tub, a sitting area with a large flat screen Smart TV (complete with Netflix and Amazon Prime). There are large windows surrounding the room with spectacular views of the Smoky Mountains.
An AMAZING complimentary breakfast is served each morning. Depending upon the suite you book, you can opt to take your meals in your room. We opted to dine downstairs with a stunning view of the garden. Nina greeted us each morning and was friendly and pleasant. Rusty makes the BEST PANCAKES EVER.
You must book dinner for each night of your stay. It is 40-50 dollars per person for a romantic, candlelit multi-course dinner overlooking the Smokies. Totally worth it.
I took advantage of the sauna located in the gym. The gym is well-equipped and overlooks the pool and a provides views of the mountain scape as well. There isn’t a bad view at this place!
We planned this trip on a whim. In less than 2 weeks, the resort wedding planner, Debbie, was able to arrange our stay, meals, ceremony, photography, minister and cake. We felt virtually no pressure or stress during the planning process and the ceremony went without a glitch. The officiant, Adam Sander, is a retired Southern Baptist preacher and has performed over 2000 weddings to date. His words were inspired and we appreciated the time he took with us before the ceremony. The ceremony was meaningful and we didn’t feel rushed.
Debbie ensured we got plenty of pictures. I haven’t seen them yet, but I have no doubt they turned out beautifully.
The cake (made in-house) was incredible. Chef Valentine made us a fantastic meal (as always) and it was the perfect ending to a perfect day.
Everything I mentioned above was included in a small package price. We booked the Affair for Two wedding package and it is unbelievable the experience you get for what you pay. Christopher Place is far from from the campy “chapels” of Gatlinburg.
Christopher Place provided us with an upscale, classic wedding and overlooked no details. We were honored to have our wedding there and we are blessed for the amazing staff who made it happen.
See you at our one year anniversary!Mai on TripAdvisor
I chose Christopher Place to host my February 2016 nuptials. It is within close proximity to the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area of Tennessee (about 40 minutes) yet a far cry from the cheesier wedding chapels located within those city limits. From booking through execution, Debbie, our wedding coordinator was helpful and returned all of my calls and emails in a very timely fashion. She was able to point me in the direction of vendors for hair/make up and I used Beth who came on site to get me ready for our big day.
My parents stayed at the bed&breakfast for the weekend and raved about the breakfast offered each morning. The physical location was beautiful and offered breathtaking views of the smoky mountains (I have amazing photos!) and everyone was welcoming and went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. Marsten, the owner, was very gracious and even offered to drive down the icy roads to pick up the minister who was performing our ceremony to make sure everything went as planned. We did stay during and unusual winter storm where there was lots of snow on the ground but while the road leading to the resort was a bit slippery it was not unsafe.
We had dinner that evening and it was hands down one of the best meals I have ever had from beginning to end. It is my understanding there is a fixed menu that changes every evening but if our meal was any indication, you will not be disappointed. Debbie, our wedding coordinator personally made our cake and it was delicious and very pretty.
We can’t wait to return to the resort and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet get away or an intimate place for a wedding or elopement.Erica on TripAdvisor
From the moment we picked Christopher’s Place to get married we were ecstatic with the service. He’s Army and I’m Air Force, we do not live near each other and we are a very busy couple. That being said, we spoke to Debbie the wedding coordinator and decided to go with Christopher’s Place as it is an all inclusive deal for the right price, which was fantastic for our little venue of 17 people, including us.
We got married on an un-seasonably warm March weekend and it was beyond perfect. I cannot tell you how excited, happy and blessed we are to have found Christopher’s Place and to have the perfect wedding. There was no stress. Debbie took care of everything. Marston, the owner even bar tended for our wedding and the food, well I will get there in a minute as it deserves its own paragraph.
But first the accommodations. We picked Margaret’s room, which was on the third floor, but have no fear there is an elevator. The colors, decor and big oval window were not only conducive to my bridal pictures but simply fantastic. The house is designed with an anti-bellum plantation home feeling and is simple the most elegant and perfect setting for any classic venue.
The Pub room is delightful in that old world leather, smoke and woody rich man feel that you just want to sink into a chair and have a cigar with a hunting dog at your side and some scotch. It’s rich and classy and a bit decadent. But very reasonably priced and certainly not snooty as the staff is so very caring and accommodating. You feel like it is your very nice home away from home.
We married at 1730 and sat for dinner at 1800. In between the ceremony we took pictures and asked for a veg and anit-pasta platter to occupy the family while we were busy with pictures. Again, the attention to detail and plate were perfect. Which leads me into the food.
While the hospitality of Christopher’s place was certainly the best of the best the south could offer, the food was the crowning glory to the perfect weekend and event of my life.
We worked with Debbie and Karen to pick a menu that was appealing to the family, who might have a picky eater or two among them. We chose beef and chicken for an entree, stuffed mushrooms for an app, caprese salad and weren’t concerned much about the desert.
We got the most wonderful stuffed mushrooms, meaty lush baby portable’s stuffed with a sausage cheese mixture that was the most brilliant beginning to a heavenly experience. The caprese was delightful with a dash of the house vinaigrette and seasonal heirloom mushrooms. The beef was cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth, accompanied by asparagus and grilled mushrooms with roasted potatoes. I was sad I did not finish mine but between the wedding cake, dessert course and rush of getting married I could not stab that last little bite and sneak it into my mouth. I had a bite of the chicken and it was out of this world. Perfectly cooked and so moist that it too melted in the mouth that it brought a tear to my eye. Chicken is so often over cooked that it is a sheer delight to find a chef that can cook it right!!! Desert was a caramel custard with a heavenly sweetness that was cut with just a little speckle of salt. It’s salt/sweet flavor was really quite lovely and a fabulous way to end a meal. And then we had the wedding cake. Which was phenomenal. So sweet, simple, and moist with buttercream frosting and vanilla cake I could not have imagined anything more perfect.
I have said that phrase a few times now. But I am telling you, the expectations that Tom and I had for this wedding were fulfilled x times. We pretty much had to show up and walk down the aisle and that was it. To be able to have a perfect, beautiful event without the worry and stress and to have family and friends there and everyone enjoying themselves is priceless. One would think that we paid a fortune for this, however we did not. The prices are so reasonable and the experience is simply enjoyable. How many brides really get to say that they had a stress free, delightful day that will be in their memories for ever? Not many and I owe that all to Christopher’s Place.
Thank you so very much from the bottom of our hearts.
The Christopher Place is exceptional for intimate get aways and elopements – which is what we chose this resort for. Our marriage and time spent there was completely stress free, romantic, serene tranquility and superb fine dining. It was all we had hoped for and more. The staff makes everything easy and satisfactory , very accommodating without being over bearing. Janice, the officiate , was one of the most genuine, caring , sincerest individuals that gave our nuptials a beautifully heartfelt service. Debbie is a “jack of all trades” and is simply awesome. Karen – the chef- there are not enough wonderful adjectives to describe her cuisines…. Want to go back many times!! The food is amazing!! Mountain view is stunning for a wedding backdrop- a must see.Theresa on TripAdvisor
