If you haven’t glanced at the calendar lately, Valentines Day is fast approaching. So if you’ve gotten caught up in the busyness of your everyday life and haven’t made plans for your sweetheart yet, let us help you out with this guide to a fantastic getaway in the Smoky Mountains. The unforgettable scenery, tranquil surroundings and crisp mountain air all add up a priceless gift from the heart: memories that last a lifetime on day that celebrates your true love.

Here’s your guide to an amazing Valentine’s Day in the Smoky Mountains

Start your day the right way

Arrive early in Gatlinburg and head to Crockett’s Breakfast Camp, a storied local institution that’s been in business since 1875. You’ll find all of your favorites for the most important meal of the day, but pancakes are the specialty here. Customize your order with fruit compotes, chocolate chips, candied apples, powdered sugar or fluffy whipped cream. If you happen to be staying with us then you’ll have a gourmet breakfast awaiting you in the dining room when you wake.

Get something crafty for your valentine

Now that you’re properly fueled for the day – or at least the morning – head over to one of Gatlinburg’s signature activities, the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community. Over 120 artisans display their handiwork on an eight-mile loop around the city. You’ll find paintings, sculptures, photography, ceramics, jewelry, home design and much more.

Take a well-deserved break for lunch

Exploring all of those artists’ galleries and shops has surely made you hungry for a midday meal. We have two recommendations: Big Daddy’s Pizzeria, where you can order one of their classic pizzas such as the Smoky Mountain Cheese Steak, the Big Kahuna or the Bee Sting, or create one of your own; or Alamo Steakhouse & Saloon, which has an extensive but delicious carnivore-oriented menu for lunch.

Move out and about

After lunch, you might feel the need to stretch your legs. Here are another two options, both the favorites of visitors and locals alike. First, if you’re in the mood for snowy adventures, head to Ober Gatlinburg and fly down a snow tubing course, shush down the mountain on skis, or perfect your ice skating skills (or just stay balanced and upright). The other choice is strolling through Cades Cove in the National Park. Take in the well-preserved community of buildings on the loop, but also try to spot wildlife in the midst.

Share a romantic dinner

After all of the activity you’ve shared with your loved one, it’s now time to celebrate with a splurge-worthy dinner. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge have many fine dining choices, but you may want to check out our own Mountain View Restaurant, because after you’ve enjoyed one of the best romantic fine dining experiences in the Gatlinburg area, you can now head upstairs and simply…

Stay the night

And have a drink while you relax in one our beautifully appointed private hot tub suites.
