After the Fire in Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains

Thank you so much for each of the calls, messages, and emails we’ve gotten every day, checking to see if we’re safe from the fires these past weeks throughout the Smoky Mountains.

We are, thankfully, completely free of any damage as the fires did not reach this area.

And while the fires have mostly subsided, thousands of acres of the park and hundreds of homes and businesses have experienced total devastation.

We all want to know how we can jump in and help. There are many on the ground here, handing out supplies and helping to sort through the dust and ashes.

Even if you can’t be on the ground here with us in the Smokies, you can help support the work of rebuilding here.

If you love the Smokies, consider donating to Dolly Parton’s “My People Fund” to help people rebuild their homes and lives after the fire. In December, a special telethon produced millions of dollars for the victims of the fires. But, much more is needed!

One way we’re helping is by donating 15% of new reservations from room stays in December and January to this fund.

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park still has thousands of acres and hundreds of miles of trails to explore. Already businesses are reopening throughout the region. It’s still a beautiful place for a romantic getaway!

We appreciate your thoughts and prayers for Christopher Place and this region. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
