If there is a wedding in your near future, consider hosting it at our Smoky Mountains bed and breakfast. Our inn sits on 200 secluded acres and overlooks the Great Smoky Mountains National Park; we have eight rooms/suites – some overlooking the Smoky Mountains and others looking over the forested ridge behind the inn, and we have both a gourmet restaurant and a casual pub.

Wedding Overlooking the Smoky Mountains
Monday, August 9th, 2010Hiking the Great Smoky Mountains
Monday, July 19th, 2010The opening scene of the Sound of Music must be etched in the minds of all who have ever seen it. Somehow it magically captures the essence we feel when we stand atop mountains, stunning views all around. Folks who have hiked to the top of the peak off Max Patch Road, near our bed and breakfast Smoky Mountains, say they feel like Maria, singing with joy.
Avid hikers and not-so-avid hikers alike will enjoy the walk up to the grassy area at 4,500 feet, as it is only a mile long. You’ll join folks hiking the Appalachian Trail, which traverses the peak, and enjoy views which normally come at a much higher price (ie, more walking). Be sure to bring a picnic, for on a clear day the views are endless, and you may never want to come down off the peak.
But down you will come, back to this Smoky Mountains bed and breakfast. Views from the porch can’t rival those from the peak, but they are awfully nice – and they can be enjoyed sunrise to sunset, with a cool drink in hand. We hope you’ll explore the magnificent region around the inn while you’re here, but we also hope you’ll sit back and relax here, amid our peaceful 200 acres in the woods.
Visit Douglas Lake
Thursday, June 10th, 2010Douglas Lake is just thirty minutes from our bed and breakfast Smoky Mountains TN. This sinewy body of water was created by the damning of the French Broad River in the 1940’s. Today Douglas Lake is a great spot for boating, fishing, and swimming. (more…)
Smoky Mountain Harvest Festival
Wednesday, October 21st, 2009
Our Gatlinburg area bed and breakfast has the advantage of being close to Gatlinburg while feeling like a remote retreat in the Smoky Mountains. When you stay here, you can easily slip into Gatlinburg to browse shops and galleries, go to the theatre, or listen to music. There is always something interesting to do in Gatlinburg.
Yet you can also stay sequestered in our Gatlinburg area inn. Make reservations to dine in our romantic, mountain view dining room. Order breakfast in your room. Stroll along miles of scenic trails on our 200-acres. Wrap yourself in a blanket, sit on deck, and take in amazing views of the Smoky Mountains. How you spend your time is up to you, of course, but once you are here there is no need to leave until you must.
Should you chose to head into Gatlinburg, you may want to check out the Smoky Mountain Harvest Festival. This celebration of fall in the mountains runs through October, with a variety of events throughout the Gatlinburg area. Check out the Gatlinburg Craftsmen’s Fair, through October 25. Window shop at storefronts decorated with the colors of fall. Visit the Great Smoky Arts and Crafts Comunity – the largest group of independent artisans in North America – in the north-east corner of Gatlinburg.
Autumn Romantic Getaways
Monday, September 7th, 2009September in the Smoky Mountains is idyllic. Summer crowds have headed back to school and work, and the heat has somewhat abated. The early morning mists that rise and cling to the mountaintops are beautiful at this time of year, and remind us of how the Smokies got their name. October follows with blazing fall foliage that turns the mountains into the color of sunset. The views from our Gatlinburg TN lodging are spectacular.
Come stay with us this fall for a romantic weekend retreat. We created our east Tennessee bed and breakfast with romance in mind, paying particular detail to the moods created by our public spaces. The intimacy of our formal dining room encourages closeness, and the fine dining culinary creations are delicious and deeply satisfying. We offer a romantic getaway package that includes three nights lodging, breakfast at your leisure, and one gourmet candlelit four-course dinner for two. We also offer honeymoon and anniversary packages that include four nights lodging and romantic four-course dinners on two nights. There are excellent restaurants close by in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, and of course, our pub is a less formal but equally intimate place to dine. It is no wonder that more than one proposal has occurred here.
Autumn is a lovely time for romance and weddings in eastern Tennessee. The two hundred acres that surround our Smoky Mountain Inn include wide, open lawns perfect for outdoor wedding ceremonies and receptions. The lawns are surrounded by rolling wooded land, with many shades of green in the spring and summer, and vivid reds, oranges, and yellows in autumn. Indoor weddings and receptions take place in large rooms with many windows to the view, along with covered decks and balconies. Perhaps a proposal this fall will be followed by a wedding next fall?
